The Evolution of Wauwatosa Day Care

1974: When It All Began

Wauwatosa Day Care opened its doors in 1974 at The Nativity Lutheran Church located on 69th and Bluemound.

The company was founded by Rosemary Krause and Janey Brandt.

The original license was for 20 children, amended at a later date to a capacity of 36 children, ages 2 1/2 to 6 years.

1975: Martin Luther Church

The second location, at the Martin Luther Church on 92nd and Bluemound Road, opened as a nursery school 8:00am to 11:00am, and soon became a full-day center licensed for 33 children, ages 2 1/2 to 6 years.

As the need for infant care increased, we expanded to an enrollment of 47.

1996: Making A Move

During this year, we moved our 69th and Bluemound location to 5522 West Bluemound Road. The center was licensed for 80 children, and we were able to accommodate children between the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years.
